Continental CrossContact A/T² is the newest all-terrain addition to Continental’s SUV and 4×4 range, aimed at drivers who split their time between everyday road use and rougher surfaces such as gravel, sand, mud and uneven tracks.
The tyre is positioned as an all-season all-terrain product for SUVs, 4×4 vehicles, pick-up trucks, electric vehicles and light truck applications. Continental says the development target was balanced off-road traction without sacrificing predictable road behaviour.
The tread uses increased depth, a high void ratio and reinforced block geometry to help the tyre bite into loose surfaces. Reinforced sidewalls and a robust off-shoulder design are intended to reduce damage from rocks, roots and rough surfaces, while the dedicated 4×4 compound is designed to keep grip consistent across wet, dry and lower-temperature conditions.
Initial availability is limited to nine sizes covering 15 to 17 inch rim diameters. That makes the CrossContact A/T² more relevant for practical 4x4s and pick-ups than for large road-biased premium SUVs running 20 inch and larger wheels.
On Tirelab, the model has been added as a premium all-terrain all-season SUV tyre. Early rivals include BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2, Continental TerrainContact AT and Goodyear Adventure All Terrain. Independent test data is not available yet, so the model should be treated as a launch entry until tyre tests and supplier label data arrive.
